Korean Volunteers Bring Tech and Culture to Nepalese Students

A four-person Korean volunteer team, Include, is making a lasting impact on students at Swopna Sansar School in Nepal, sharing valuable IT skills and cultural experiences. The team, part of the World Friends Korea (WFK) IT Volunteer Corps, is conducting an intensive program from July 30 to August 15, 2025, to bridge the digital divide and foster global connections.

Coding and Office Skills for a Digital Future
Recognizing the limited access to technology in the region, the Include team is providing hands-on training in block coding and Office Applications (OA).

In block coding classes, students use visual tools to learn basic programming concepts. They’re creating their own moving characters, which helps them develop problem-solving skills, creativity, and logical thinking.

The OA classes focus on essential digital literacy, teaching students how to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations—skills crucial for both academics and future careers.

Team leader Hyeseon Ahn expressed her admiration for the students’ enthusiasm: “Whenever I see the bright, passionate eyes of these children, I feel that we, as a team, are learning from them. I hope that even in this short time, the students will be inspired to see the world from a broader perspective, overcome challenges, and dream bigger.”

A Taste of Korean Culture
In addition to the IT curriculum, the volunteers are immersing students in Korean culture through fun, interactive activities. Students have learned to write their names in Korean, made traditional fans, and participated in K-pop dance lessons. The team also organized a “Squid Game”-themed sports event and a K-food snack tasting, creating a memorable and engaging cultural exchange.

Jin-Woo Lim, the team’s cultural education volunteer, shared his moments: “The moments when they supported each other and worked together left a deep impression on me. It was truly rewarding to witness their dreams and curiosity grow.”

The Include team’s program at Swopna Sansar School concludes on August 15, but they plan to use this experience to expand their educational efforts and develop more content to help other countries in the future.
